KAJI LAMP

This sculptural lighting work explores the visual language of draped form and illumination, treating light as a considered gesture — deliberate, atmospheric and grounded in place.
Drawing on the familiar language of a beautifully designed interior lamp, the form is translated outdoors at an architectural scale. Suspended fabric takes on an organic, sculptural shape, balancing visual softness with structural function to create a work that feels both familiar and unexpected within the landscape.
At twilight, the sculpture comes to life. An integrated commercial-grade solar lighting system provides warm, sustainable illumination, making light an essential part of both the form and function of the work. Its soft glow responds to shifting light conditions and the surrounding environment.
KAJI is crafted from premium marine-grade stainless steel with precision-formed and polished components, concealed flush-mounted fixings, and a weather- and UV-resistant fabric shade designed to retain its sculptural form and withstand outdoor conditions.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jodi Wuestewald is an Australian stylist and sculptural designer working across spatial design, light and object. With over two decades of experience in styling and creative direction across editorial, residential and commercial spaces, her practice is shaped by a strong understanding of atmosphere, materiality and place.
Led by light , the quiet architect of mood, Jodi explores how light shapes the way a space is felt before it is understood. Extending the language of interiors into sculptural form, she creates lighting works that reinterpret familiar domestic elements at an architectural scale.
Her work explores light as both form and function, as well as a visual and emotional experience, creating sculptural works that belong to the landscape as much as they illuminate it.

INTRODUCING

KAJI GARDEN

KAJI Garden is a smaller-scale evolution of the original KAJI sculptural light, designed for residential and garden settings. Standing at 2 metres tall, it brings the same sense of softness, atmosphere and sculptural presence into a more intimate scale. Crafted from premium marine-grade stainless steel with polished finishes and concealed fixings, the weather- and UV-resistant draped fabric shade is designed for enduring outdoor use. Inspired by the familiarity of a floor lamp and reimagined for outdoors, KAJI Garden creates moments of warmth, connection and calm within the landscape.

Kaji launching at

SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL 2026

KAJI will debut its 3-metre sculptural light at the SWELL Sculpture Festival, one of Australia’s leading outdoor sculpture exhibitions, set against the stunning coastal landscape of Currumbin, Queensland.
The work explores scale, light and atmosphere in an open-air context, inviting viewers to experience a familiar domestic form reimagined as public sculpture.
This launch marks the first presentation of the KAJI series, with KAJI Garden — a 2-metre Lamp, designed for residential and landscape settings — to follow. Jodi is grateful for the opportunity to introduce the work at SWELL and to share it within this unique setting of coastal light, landscape and contemporary sculpture.
